If there’s one thing we can all collectively agree on, it’s that Halloween just wouldn’t be the same without there being some sort of delicious food to snack on. But being such a special occasion calls for something a little bit more spooktacular than your everyday dinner, don’t you think? If you really want to treat yourself, a hog roast is the only way to go.
Picture this: A spit-roasted pig sizzling over a low flame. Its scored skin evenly charred for an irresistible layer of crispy crackling – oh and the applesauce. A flavoursome condiment that’s both sweet and sharp to balance out the saltiness of the meat. It’s almost like magic.
Up until this year, it was a tradition for Hog Roast Harrogate to serve our wonderful feasts at fancy dress parties, creepy carnivals and Halloween discos. But with lockdown rules restricting the number of people allowed at events, this year’s celebrations looked very different. That didn’t stop us from helping people have fun in a COVID-safe way, though!
For anyone stuck at home this spooky season, our Gourmet Delivery option was a saving grace. Hog Roast Harrogate had plenty of bookings for this service in the weeks before Halloween, but one that stands out to us the most came from Jenna.
With a house full of Halloween obsessed children to entertain, Jenna and her husband, Mike, had put their heads together to come up with the perfect way of marking the day. Over the phone, the client told our catering manager all about their back garden gazebo which had been secretly turned into a Halloween movie lair, with a projector set up to allow the family to snuggle up and watch movies. All they needed to complete the celebrations was a tasty meal.
As always, Hog Roast Harrogate was more than happy to provide a hearty meal for the special occasion, and on Saturday, our friendly team rocked up to the client’s address with the freshly-cooked feast which included dishes from our southern slow roast menu.
The family loved everything included in the delivery, and it helped to make their evening at home truly memorable.
